Get to Know Me: A Personalized Sticker Set
These vector graphics are a sticker design that I created. I wanted to share things that I love and tell people a bit about who I am a as a person. The jellyfish sticker is supposed to tell people that I sting. That is the one I want to focus on today.
The Process
Ideation
I did some ideation sketches to figure out what I wanted everything to look like. I played around with the pattern on top of the jellyfish heads. I played around with just having the head without patterns, the head with patterns, and the head with eyes. I also messed around with the tentacles and how they would look. There are the thicker tentacles and then the thinner ones that flow more in the water.
Tentacle Sketches
I tried to redraw the tentacles many times, until I went to a mentor who taught me how to do it right. My first draft in red didn’t look like tentacles at all. The others were getting better but were either too thick or too thin. The one with green is the correct one.
Drafts In Computer
These show the drafts of the sketches in the computer until I got closer to the correct tentacle.
I had originally had the tentacles warped, but after talking with a mentor, I decided to change the tentacles into an art brush. They look more natural and flowy with the art brush than they did with the warp.
The Final
This is the final draft of what I ended up with. It is the best product of all the others throughout this process. As you can see to the left, this is my final sticker.
I learned a lot about trusting the process and trying new things when you are stuck. I would love to collaborate with you.
